【摘要】:1.1Thisguidecoverstheselectionofsurfacegeophysicalmethods,ascommonlyappliedtogeologic,geotechnical,hydrologic,andenvironmentalinvestigations(hereafterreferredtoassitecharacterization),aswellasforensicandarchaeologicalapplications.Thisguidedoesnotdescribethespecificproceduresforconductinggeophysicalsurveys.Individualguidesarebeingdevelopedforeachsurfacegeophysicalmethod.1.2Surfacegeophysicalmethodsyielddirectandindirectmeasurementsofthephysicalpropertiesofsoilandrockandporefluids,aswellasburiedobjects.1.3Thegeophysicalmethodspresentedinthisguideareregularlyusedandhavebeenproveneffectiveforhydrologic,geologic,geotechnical,andhazardouswastesiteassessments.1.4Thisguideprovidesanoverviewofapplicationsforwhichsurfacegeophysicalmethodsareappropriate.Itdoesnotaddressthedetailsofthetheoryunderlyingspecificmethods,fieldprocedures,orinterpretationofthedata.Numerousreferencesareincludedforthatpurposeandareconsideredanessentialpartofthisguide.Itisrecommendedthattheuserofthisguidebefamiliarwiththereferencescited()andwithGuidesD420,D5730,D5753,D5777,andD6285,aswellasPracticesD5088,D5608,D6235,andTestMethodG57.1.5Toobtaindetailedinformationonspecificgeophysicalmethods,ASTMstandards,otherpublications,andreferencescitedinthisguide,shouldbeconsulted.1.6Thesuccessofageophysicalsurveyisdependentuponmanyfactors.Oneofthemostimportantfactorsisthecompetenceoftheperson(s)responsibleforplanning,carryingoutthesurvey,andinterpretingthedata.Anunderstandingofthemethod''stheory,fieldprocedures,andinterpretationalongwithanunderstandingofthesitegeology,isnecessarytosuccessfullycompleteasurvey.Personnelnothavingspecializedtrainingorexperienceshouldbecautiousaboutusinggeophysicalmethodsandshouldsolicitassistancefromqualifiedpractitioners.1.7ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedastheguide.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.8Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
