【摘要】:Theresistanceofaspeciesofwoodorawood-baseproducttodirectwithdrawalofnails,staples,orscrewsisameasureofitsabilitytoholdorbeheldtoanadjoiningobjectbymeansofsuchfasteners.Factorsthataffectthiswithdrawalresistanceincludethephysicalandmechanicalpropertiesofthewood;thesize,shape,andsurfaceconditionofthefasteners;thespeedofwithdrawal;physicalchangestowoodorfastenersbetweentimeofdrivingandtimeofwithdrawal;orientationoffiberaxis;andtheoccurrenceandnatureofpreboredleadholes.Byusingastandardsizeandtypeofnail,staple,orscrew,withdrawalresistanceofawoodspeciesorwoodproductcanbedetermined,andsuchvaluesfortwoormorewoodspeciesorwoodproductscanbecompared.Throughoutthemethodthisisreferredtoasthebasicwithdrawaltest.Similarly,comparativeperformancesofdifferentsizesortypesofnail,staple,orscrewcanbedeterminedbyusingastandardprocedurewithaparticularwoodorwoodproduct,whicheliminatesthewoodorthewoodproductasavariable.Sincedifferencesintestmethodscanhaveconsiderableinfluenceonresults,itisimportantthatastandardprocedurebespecifiedandadheredto,iftestvaluesaretoberelatedtoothertestresults.1.1Thesetestmethodsprovideabasicprocedureforevaluatingtheresistanceofwoodandwood-basematerialstodirectwithdrawalofnails,staples,andscrews.Spikesareincludedasnailsinthisstandard.1.2Thetestsalsoprovideabasisfordeterminingcomparableperformanceofdifferenttypesandsizesofnails,staples,andscrewsindirectwithdrawalfromwoodandwood-basematerials.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.3Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistancetolateralmovementofferedbyasinglenail,staple,orscrewinwoodmembers.Thetestprovidescomparativedataforvariousspeciesofwood.Thisgeneraltestmethodcanalsobeusedforevaluatingothertypesandsizesoffasteningseitherinwoodorotherbuildingmaterialssuchasplywood,hardboard,etc.,orcombinationsofmaterials.Furthermore,whererequiredforspecificpurposes,thegeneralmethodcanbeusedforevaluatingthelateralresistanceofsizesofnails,staples,andscrewsotherthanthosespecified,andjointsemployingtwoormorefasteners.Itisrecommendedthatwhensuchtestsaremade,thespecifiedprocedurebefollowedascloselyaspossibleandalldeviationsbecompletelydescribed.1.4Thistestmethodprovidesasuitableprocedureforevaluatingthestrengthandrigidityoftimberjointsfastenedwithboltsorwithmetalconnectorswhichusuallyalsorequireboltstoformthejoint.Thetestservesasabasisfordevelopingdesigncriteriaandfordeterminingtheeffectofvariousfactorsonthestrengthandefficiencyofthejoint.1.5Thistestmethodcoversdeterminationofthetensilestrengthandstiffnesscharacteristicsofsymmetricaljointsinwhichparallelplanarwoodmembersareconnectedbyfastenersofthetypecommonlyknownas"trussplates."Thismethodhasbeenespeciallydesignedfordeterminingthetensilepropertiesofjointsthatconnectnominal2-in.dimensionlumbersuchasthosecommonlyusedinlightrooftrussassemblies.Itisrecommendedthatthespecifiedprocedurebefollowedascloselyasispracticableandthatanydeviationsbedescribed.
